For a few short moments, there were signs of promise. Some acting was good, John doe stole the show. But then others were so bad, like the overly cheesy DJ... I can't believe he's a real actor. But it wasn't the actors that killed this, it was the director. If he couldn't realise how bad this would be, he shouldn't be in the business. I give 4 stars to account for the actors that were at least trying.

I think some parts of the movie are fine and I did think the set-up was okay even though far fetched. But again the start was the best part and not really that special even for a B/C-movie. But the for me unfulfilling end really made me feel I really wasted my time here. Maybe they hoped to make a sequel. But more likely they could just not decide what story they did try to tell (which they did not really do a good job doing either) Only recommended if you want to see all "zombie" movies ever made.

In post Katrina days, Chandler Pharmaceutical company distributes an anti-stress drug that turns people into zombies. Charlie (David Christopher) and conspiracy DJ Aldous (Lew Temple) fight their way out of Louisiana along with company that includes Black Rain security agent and dancer Katie Ann (Emily Kaye). Let's see. Grindhouse, New Orleans, Zombies, and Sid Haig. What is not to like? The special zombie effects went from great to cheap. Sid Haig plays a straight military character and makes his first appearance 12 minutes from the end of the film. Malcolm McDowell has a slightly less cameo role. The film had some good scenes, but not great scenes. It also had too many scenes that didn't work well. In one scene they opt to spend the night in a boat to be safe, but stay tied up to the pier. Guess how that works out? The film spent too much time showing Aldous broadcasting about Chandler Pharmacy. Instead of constantly showing the guy talking in the studio, have it play in the background while faces are being eaten. David Christopher also gave us a boring character. The tough girl character of Katie Ann fell a little short. Not the worse zombie film out there. Just don't expect too much from the over billed stars that make cameos. I love horror movies, I have always loved them even as a tender little girl I fell in love with the monster of Frankenstein. Zombies are my deepest loves for they are the true mirror reflection of our selves as we bring on the apocalypse. So Zombex, with its noble cast of characters, could be so enriching and fun for the world to see. I watched with my husband for "date nite" and boy were we surprised! We sat eyes wide open and sometimes shut (with hand holding head as increduleousness swept through our minds, forcing us to shake our heads to deliver ourselves from the fumagting toxic fog of the osurdity emanating from the television). One scene is cropped so that you cannot see the main actors (of interest) speaking in the backgrownd. The scenes seem to be inspired from moment to moment and one wonders if there is an actual scipt somewhere in the woods. As reference for general understanding of perspectives, this is one to be watched.

I don't know the technical movie terms, but I had to comment that this director had a passion for what he was creating here... LOL... He just should have finished his 101 class first. Okay, the good parts... Sid Haig, Malcolm McDowell, and pretty boy David Christopher... AND the editing, in my opinion, was innovative... okay, maybe not innovative, but as I said in the title... it has feeling... The story, like any good B movie, is long, over-done, and drawn out... BUT... with a good buzz, you will have a good time! I appreciate the bold contempt against pharmaceutical companies and I think Sid playing a military leader was pure IRONY and deliberate. Thank you Mr. Dayton for having a great sense of humor. If you're anything like me, you don't really care about reviews in regard to likability; you like what you like. I liked the fact that I can appreciate an attempt at a 'tongue in cheek' message...

Well, I had quite some low expectations from this one, but after about 10 minutes, they raise, actually starting to enjoy it, wanting more, it seemed better than average. Sadly, after 40 minutes, it all rolls down the hill, deep down, probably it's when they stopped trying... OK, Zombex: the effects are really cheap, I mean all the head shots and guns firing, CGI, weak ones too, the dialogue was acceptable in the first half, quite natural I might say, the story, absolutely nothing new but then again it is a zombie movie, and some half decent characters. Quite a contrast here, cause again, the first 40 minutes, pretty much everyone embraced logic and took normal decisions, after that, they all act like they are indeed part of a zombie movie...dumb dumb and dumb. The ending didn't do much either, quite sad, quite pointless, like a journey that started promising and ending just because it was time. Brought nothing new whatsoever. Therefore, I rated it 4, almost average zombiefest, but not quite there. Would I recommend such a thing? Nope, not even the cast can save this one. But then again if you are a zombie maniac, you might enjoy it, still, ALMOST average zombex! Cheers!

What a shame. To actually have the gall to present this 'film' to a viewing audience. The democratization of filmmaking is just presenting more and more people that have absolutely no idea to the proper structure of narrative storytelling. This film looks like the editor plopped all the footage into a blender and hit 'high'. Nothing makes sense and I didn't have a clue as to who anyone was or what was going on. I realize that filmmakers like to be innovative and that to me is very welcomed as a viewer, but the narrative structure has to be coherent. If you don't have decent structure and very well defined characters all you'll have is, well this 'movie'. It's very clear from this presentation that the director, writer, cinematographer, and editor had no idea what they were doing. Projects like this are killing horror films. Total trashology. Don't waste any more of your time even reading this review.

1st of all, zombie films are a dime a dozen. We all know it. So I went into this thinking it was going to provide all the stereotypical "zombie" movie traits and it did do some of those, but it also landed in a few places that surprised me. Malcolm McDowell is good in it but he's generally good in everything he does, so no big surprise there. Sid Haig, Corey Feldman and Tom Araya aren't in the film as much as I wanted them to be but they do punch the film up in places where it needs it. The thing I liked the best about Zombex though was actor Lew Temple. Lew played Axl from last seasons Walking Dead. He's hilarious in the film. Has a real southern twang and pushes every scene he's in. I don't think the film would have been good at all with out Temple. He's a force and he gets to deliver the goods in Zombex. The action is OK, but the big kill towards the end is pretty mind blowing. Shocking the film maker got away with that gnarly of a kill. The girls in the film reminded me of Russ Myers chicks. Lot's of ass kicking and even a hot sex scene that not what you'd think. I thought the film was a hell of a fun ride. Check out Zombex!

When I saw that Sid Haig and Malcolm McDowell were in this zombie movie, I was thrilled to get to see this movie. And now having seen it, I must say that my excitement was shattered tenfolds. Wow, this movie was awful. Not only was the dialogue bad and forcefully scripted, but the storyline was just downright insulting to people who enjoy the zombie genre. Seriously, this was all that director Jesse Dayton could muster with an ensemble of actors that was on the billing list? The story is about a pharmaceutical company that gives away pills to the general public as a sign of good will and willingness to help. However, these pills turn people into ravenous zombies. It is up to a small time radio DJ and a former musician to find out a way to stop this infection. Well, the zombies were running about, as in "28 Days Later", which doesn't really go well with me. And also for people that were recently deceased from the pills, then they turned into rotting cadavers awfully quick. And that whole phosphorous florescent green contact lenses to indicate zombie infection, no, no, no! That wasn't working on any level, regardless of how you looked at it. The best parts of the movie were the name of Malcolm McDowell which was Dr. Soulis; it sounded like doctor soulless. And also it was quite surreal to see Sid Haig in a military uniform, which he didn't pull off one bit. Now, I am normally all for Sid Haig, but his role for this movie was so wrongly selected. And also, there is just about enough gore and blood to keep the gorehounds out there semi-interested in the movie. Not even seeing Tom Araya making a brief appearance in "Zombiex" was enough to raise up the movie in any way. This movie is definitely within the lower scale of all the zombie movies that I have had to sit through throughout my movie-watching history so far. And it is getting a mere 2 out of 10 stars from me.
